Spectrul bacterian include: Stapylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Actinobacillus spp., Bacteroides spp., Fusobacterium spp., Campylobacter spp., Clostridium spp. si Actinomyces spp.. Metronidazol este activ atat impotriva Treponema cat si a protozoarelor Trichomonas si Histomonas.
